Amplify hosts Father Greg Boyle

Amplify hosts Father Greg Boyle
september 20, 2022
On Tuesday, September 20th, nearly 600 business, community, and ministry leaders filled the pews of Christ Presbyterian Church for Amplify’s 4th annual fundraising event, "Grace: No Strings", raising more than $75,000!
Petey Crowder, Senior Pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church, opened in prayer and celebrated the work of Amplify, one of the church’s selected ministry partners. "I love the work that Amplify does. It's so in line with CPCs heart for understanding that when the Gospel is real to us, it moves us beyond ourselves to respond and bless others with the resources and gifts God has given us."
Sara Groves, the musical guest for the evening, set the tone for the evening as she opened with "Floodplain" followed by "The Long Defeat." She reflected on the inspiration for the Long Defeat sharing, "If winning looks like turning my back on those who lose, I don't want to win in that way. We join in what looks like a defeat and hardship, and yet at the same time we know this is where the life and flourishing is where we meet the very activity of Christ."
Father Greg Boyle captivated the audience with his storytelling, bringing depth and meaning to the night. He challenged guests to go from this evening to create a community of kinship so that God in fact might recognize it. "Imagine a circle of compassion and that nobody is standing outside of that circle." Father Boyle shared numerous stories of the former gang-members who have found their way to Homeboy Industries, and the necessity of connectedness to bring peace, equality, and justice. His commission was to "go from the evening and stand at exactly the margins with affectionate awe... because we know as people who long to be faithful that the only way to erase the margins is to stand at them."
Julie Eide, President of Amplify, showed the impact of Amplify on business leaders and ministries in our communities over the past year through a video highlighting two presenting ministries, Jesus Driven and Lion's Fire. She invited guests to step into God’s work at Amplify through financial partnership and active participation, bringing about a world filled with compassion, extravagant love, tenderness and generosity.
Callie Wayt, Development Director, wrapped up the evening with thanks, giving guests a sneak peek at next year's keynote, Erik Weihenmayer.
Following the event, guests enjoyed delicious treats provided by Amplify partner Rustica Bakery and supported ministry vendors, Wildflyer Coffee, Fair Anita, Covered with Christ, and Hope Farm School.
Through the generous gifts at this event, $76,781 was raised to advance the mission of Amplify!
Thank you once again to our presenting sponsor Tradition Capital Bank, our platinum sponsors Gather, HEART, and KTIS, and all businesses, organizations and individuals who gave so generously.
