Meeting Recap – January 2020
Tuesday, January 14- Partners filled the room for an inspired evening, featuring Guest Speaker Jim Martin, International Justice Mission, who reminded us “miracles are seldom spectator sports.”
Thank you to all the partners and guests who were in attendance! And a special thanks to Christ Presbyterian Church worship leader, Rich Larson for opening and closing our night with song. We watched a partner spotlight video on the amazing Jacobsen/Johnson family and were reminded of the generosity we are called to be a part of through Amplify.
In case you missed it, here’s a quick recap of the evening and a way to “connect” even further!
Junita’s Jar founder, Junita Flowers, shared information on a ministry of hope to spread awareness on relationship violence. With prominent placement at the University of Minnesota’s campus, revenue from cookie sales has helped fund speaking engagements and cookie and conversation events around the twin cities. While she rarely turns down an invitation to speak, her sweet spot is sharing the message with young people in hopes of preventing relationship violence. The strategic question she brought to the partners: How do grow a cookie company large enough to fulfill the mission God has placed on her heart to spread hope and conversation around the issue of relationship violence?
Jessica Bartholomew, shared her story of A.C.T. United, a calling by God for this retired police officer to “do something” about youth trafficking, an issue that has effected every county in Minnesota. The call was to focus on prevention, representation and youth leadership to help solve the issue. Through a proprietary program called Youth Aware, as well as industry and professional prevention workshops, A.C.T. United is rallying the community together and engaging youth to be a part of the solution. The challenge, the demand for her speaking is outpacing her capacity and the question is where to go from here?
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
Hear what presenting ministries thought of the evening…..
“Last night was energizing, refreshing and God-inspired. As I walked around to each table, my heart was filled with overwhelming gratitude, knowing that each person was there to put their faith into action.” – Junita Flowers, Junita’s Jar
“I was prepared to see the work being done on the business, but what I didn’t expect was the way God showed up to support me personally and spiritually tonight through the different people in the room. It was amazing.”” – Jessica Bartholomew, A.C.T. United
