Tuesday, July 9- The room at Colonial Church in Edina was buzzing as Amplify partners and friends filed in for our July meeting. In case you missed it, here’s a quick recap of the evening and a way to “plug in” even further!
JAY BENNETT and WARD BREHM talked “The Human Power Cord”
Bennett and Brehm reminded us to plug in to “something bigger” than ourselves. Citing Romans 12:1-2 and John 15:5, Bennett and Brehm reminded us of the inherent power that comes through the Holy Spirit when we stay plugged into God.
ROMANS 121-2: Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
SAMMY WANYONYI presented on MERGE, a ministry to bring the message of Christ to immigrant communities in the Twin Cities. With a proven model of engagement, Dr. Wanyonyi seeks to replicate the model of Merge to live out the Great Commission and advance the church as seen in Acts 2:5-11. His question, how can you take the success of Merge and operationalize it for additional cities.
SHANE O’ROUKE presented on LIFT UP, an innovative funding platform that allows donors to choose certified, high-impact projects with transparent results, ensuring 100% of the money received for the project goes directly to the project. “I saw first-hand how $5 made a difference in one kid’s life. It not only got him shoes; having shoes allowed him to go to school, which got him access to food at school- so this $5 literally transformed him and I knew, I had to do something” said O’Rourke. His ask of the room, How can we get the Lift Up platform in front of as many people as possible?
