Partners Collaborate to Restore Dignity Around the World

The room at Christ Presbyterian Church was packed on Tuesday as nearly 200 Amplify partners and guests spent time amplifying two organizations working to restore dignity to people in Ghana and the Philippines.

Thank you to all who joined us, including 69 first-time attendees! In case you missed it, here is a quick recap of the evening and a way to connect even further.

Andrea McMaster, President of Amplify, kicked off the meeting by welcoming guests and emphasizing the theme of the evening — dignity.

Sister Irene O’Neill, our guest speaker for the evening, exemplified Amplify’s belief that collaboration creates powerful ripples of impact in the world. O’Neill shared a vision she had years ago to unite the 700,000 nuns worldwide—allowing people to see where they are, what they do, and what they need. Through collaboration and God bringing the right people together, that vision became reality.

O’Neill showed Amplify partners the result of her dream to leverage the power of collaboration: a powerful mapping tool created for Sisters Rising Worldwide which fosters connections among nuns so they can support each other in their work around the world. Her story was a beautiful example of the transformative power of working together to make a difference.

Erik Olson, Founder and CEO of Dignity Made, shared heartbreaking stories of families strapped with debt and trapped in copra slavery in the Philippines. Believing economic problems need economic solutions, he launched a coconut production facility to buy directly from farmers and employ locals. He spoke about the challenges of achieving self-sustainability and asked the Amplify network to help raise awareness and sales of his coconut products, expanding dignity and opportunity to more people.

Dr. Kathy Sullivan, Founder of Operation Dignity International, shared the work she is doing in Ghana to address the root causes of poverty through farming, healthcare, and education. With a need to engage additional volunteers and donors in her mission, Dr. Sullivan asked the Amplify network to help her improve the ODI message and storytelling in a way that will compel people to engage with the organization.

Amplify partners then rolled up their sleeves and got to work, sharing ideas, connections, and expertise to help each ministry overcome the barriers presented and reach new levels of impact.

Together we’ll support the nonprofit leader in refining their 90 day action plan using the ideas and connections that emerged from brainstorming.
