Safe Families is a volunteer movement that connects the children of parents in distress with host families who have been called to open their hearts, their arms and their homes to serve those in need. The Safe Families experience starts at church, where families are invited to not only change the lives of a fellow family for better, but to enrich their own with untold blessings by living out the gospel. By hosting these vulnerable children along with support from the church, this extended family environment helps keep children safe and reunite families.
In 2014 Safe Families for Children presented at a Barnabas meeting as asked for help connecting with Churches – They wanted to reach more churches with SFFC training and support as they reach out into their communities with the tangible love of Christ. Outreach pastors have been their most successful connections and they were asking for names and introductions as well ideas to help them more effectively help churches to build ministry teams around SFFC. They also sought connections with agencies/organizations like social welfare agencies so they know about Safe Families and can make referrals before children get “stuck in the system”. Safe Families for Children were also in need of a Strategic Plan – they wanted suggestions to help them better harness the talent, skills sets and knowledge of their network of volunteers. Finally they asked for ideas to effectively build a balance of funding sources to achieve financial stability.
Barnabas Partners introduced Safe Families to folks at Wooddale Church. They also made a connection with Tandem, another Barnabas ministry to help their struggling moms.
